And on my farm there was a…

Something NEW again today: it is launch time at All Dressed Up, and we have four fantastic images for you for this months launch!

Easter Bunny

Just So Cool

Little Flower Girl

 On My Farm

They are just sooooo great! And to purchase any of the images please head on over to the Etsy Shop.

Did I make a card? Of course I did! For my design, I chose On My Farm and had so much fun!

EDHMC_ADU_On_My_Farm_All

Let’s see how:

1. Since I knew that I wanted to do a pop up card to have a Spring feel, I started with my papers: Fancy Pants Parkbench is one of my absolute favorites right now!

2. Next I picked one of my favorite dies sets by Elizabeth Craft Designs and Karen Burniston is the Lucy Label Pop Up die set. I say this so many times but will say again (and again and again) that these die sets are amazing! Everything lines up, everything cuts and looks perfect, couldn’t have asked for better! And they’re made in the USA!

3. I cut a 6″ x 12″ clear acetate sheet, scored at 6″ and only glued my 6″ x 6″ Fancy Pants paper sheets partially: the top was glued on the top and bottom was only glued at the bottom of the acetate base. Then I die cut with the Lucy Label die set at the 6″ fold mark.

4. And here comes the little trick: I cut the Fancy Pants paper sheets at the pop up section so it’s really only the acetate base that pops out. The cut out pieces I was able to glue back somewhat seamlessly as now I glued the entire 6″ x 6″ pieces onto the acetate base. Photo’s below to show a side view.

5. Using a 6″ x 12″ craft paper base, I printed the sentiment on the front of the card. Then attached the inside to the craft paper, which is my outside.

6. Using Adobe PhotoShop, I separated the elements of my digital image so now I have individual elements including a fence that I drew extra panels for.

7. Now I could add all these separated elements into my Silhouette Studio Designer edition and outline each element so my Silhouette Cutter could make the intricate cuts.

8. Once again, I went back to my absolute favorite die sets: Elizabeth Craft Designs and Karen Burniston! Used All Seasons Tree making the cloud die set to cut out my little white clouds, tree sections and my little Moo!, Oink! and baa! words — oh so much fun! Used the same die set to cut out my trees as well for the backgrounds.

9 . Two more die sets from Elizabeth Craft Designs and Karen Burniston: grass using Garden Bench die set and little room for sentiment using the Agatha Edges.

10. Favorite part of all crafting: coloring with Copic markers!

11. Once everything was cut out, printed, colored and all, it was just time to assemble.

I honestly had a ton of fun creating this card and never even know where the time went, just saw 4 o’clock in the morning (I know, I’m crazy) roll around so had to get some sleep…

Please remember that our current theme is Spring at All Dressed Up and these images will be perfect for the challenge theme, plus you are in with a chance of winning 3 images of your choice! Also don’t forget to stop by our Facebook Group to share your All Dressed Up creations & chat to fellow crafters. And please keep an eye out for more inspiration from the rest of The Dressy Girls throughout the month.

Please remember that I am always happy to personalize my artwork with a name, a quote or a special message, endless options really. Also, colors are always customizable options, after all Copic Markers come in 358 different colors!

Thinking of you

EDHMC_ADU_Little_Autumn_Girls

ADU Badge-Bell ADU Badge-RitaSomething new and exciting again today! Today is my first post with All Dressed Up Stamps Design Team. And I got my own little badge! Actually, it gets even better! Since my daughter loves All Dressed Up so much, she got a badge too! Have I mentioned how much I love kind-hearted good people? Thank you!

And it is new challenge time at All Dressed Up with our theme for this challenge: Monochrome! So simply pick a color and use its different variations.

This challenge will run until April 15th so head on over to All Dressed up blog to check out the rest of the teams creations, and why not enter the challenge whilst you are there.  Please note: to enter the challenge here, you need to use an All Dressed Up image or paper. And please remember to stop by our Facebook Group to keep up to date with all the latest All Dressed Up news, and chat to fellow crafters.

How about my card? Oh, yes! Yes, I did create a card, of course! Hahaa

I used the Three Little Autumn Girls digital image — which is how I think of my fun friends I don’t get to see often. One of my favorite dies sets by Elizabeth Craft Designs and Karen Burniston is the Accordion Oval Card set and I finally got to use it! I say this so many times but will say again (and again and again) that these die sets are amazing! Everything lines up, everything cuts and looks perfect, couldn’t have asked for better! And they’re made in the USA!

How did I create this card?

I placed the little girls in my Silhouette Studio software, outlined and cut out the images by my Silhouette Portrait cutter.

Next I had to pick out the paper and somehow today it was a simple 2 minute process (instead of my usual hours) using Me & My Big Ideas Specialty card stock paper. I also used the same paper with Small DragonflySmall Butterfly and Thinking of You die cuts from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Please remember that I am always happy to personalize my artwork with a name, a quote or a special message, endless options really. Also, colors are always customizable options, after all Copic Markers come in 358 different colors!

Please visit my Etsy Store and  Facebook Page for more ideas and colored images.

Fiona the Fairy and Her Ice Cream

EDHMC_MNC_Fiona_Ice_Cream_3_19_14

Hello Friends!

Yes, something new today! Ribbons and Lace Design Team showcase at Milk N Coffee, I used Fiona the Fairy and Her Ice Cream digital image and decided to make the image as the overall card itself — come over and check out the wonderful creations!

As you know, scissors and I don’t get along too well… okay, I don’t like cutting, true story! Instead, sweet little Fiona made it into my Silhouette Studio software, outlined and cut out the image by Silhouette Portrait cutter. Then I cut out 2 more outlines so one of them could go under the colored image and one can be the back page of my card.

And really, today’s card is all about the fun color combinations of rose mist and pale raspberry along with ash lavender and frost blue, just to mention a few —- don’t they sound so much better then just R83, V25, V22 or B00? If you have Copic markers, read some names, they’re equally creative and totally remind me of Urban Decay! Added some heart shaped paper fasteners and some pears too with some glitter pen touches.

Please remember that I am always happy to personalize my artwork with a name, a quote or a special message, endless options really. Also, colors are always customizable options, after all Copic Markers come in 358 different colors!

Swing Little Girl, Swing!

EDHMC_MiC_Lulu_Swing_Stock_Jungle_3_16_14

What a great weekend here!

My sweet friend’s baby shower was today and, as with most baby showers, we search registries, pick out toys, outfits, oh yes, diapers too! Lots of diapers actually! But not this time! My friend asked me to create her little girl a nursery decoration instead — oh, what an honor! Since her husband is in the military, the theme was jungle with browns and greens keeping the little girl still sweet and girly. After days of considerations, I chose Make It Crafty’s Lulu Swing image and already had a royalty free stock image for the background.

As I started to work on the images a few days ago, I was invited to join Alyce’s first ever Kit and Clowder Design Team! Pinch me, because I certainly cannot believe this! Honestly, everything I know about coloring is because of Alyce, who I’ve admired, listened to, practiced with and became good friends with. Counting my blessings for sure! I hope you too can join our Kit and Clowder Group on Facebook and the Kit and Clowder Online Coloring Community where we can chat, share our work and take the classes as well.

I would also like to introduce you to my fellow DT members, please go and check out these talented ladies’ blogs as well, full of ideas, inspiration and mostly gorgeous coloring:1795838_10153879328270324_1704830943_o

And what a successful launch of this new group on Facebook, already 470+ members just in a couple of days and counting. But wait! I still had my image to finish Friday night! So back to my crafting room for a moment!

How did I create this card?

First of all, had to do a little PhotoShop magic: some bows just had to go! Then I placed Lulu on the Swing in my Silhouette Studio software, outlined and cut out the image by Silhouette Portrait cutter.

DSCF2242_2

I also placed Lulu on the Swing over my background image and printed the entire piece together. Next I colored Lulu and everything on her swing with Copic C7 on the background piece to help my 3D look even further (photo below). Then I colored Lulu on the swing and assembled the pieces placing actual rope under the swing just for a little something extra fun! Lulu is sitting on foam squares to life away from the background.

DSCF2243_2

And the end result is a signed greeting card inside a frame. I also created the baby’s name, cut out and placed onto the matting area, just not showing here for privacy reasons. I cannot wait to meet you, little baby girl! Be good to your sweet mama, daddy and big brother too!

Take a Nap with Bunny

EDHMC_MNC_Lisbeth_Nap_ALL_3_5_14

Hello Friends!

I’m sharing my Design Team Showcase card at Milk N Coffee — come over and check out the wonderful creations! I used the sweet little Lisbeth Sleeps with her Bunny digital image — which is exactly how my little girl sleeps, her bunny’s name is Bun-Bun. I also opened up my brand new Lucy Label Pop Up die set by Elizabeth Craft Designs and Karen Burniston. What can I say? I’m in love with the Lucy Label Pop Up die set! I’ve said this many times already but will say again (and again and again) that these die sets are amazing! Everything lines up, everything cuts and looks perfect, couldn’t have asked for better! And they’re made in the USA!

How did I create this card?

I placed Lisbeth with Bunny in my Silhouette Studio software, outlined and cut out the image by my Silhouette Portrait cutter.

Next I had to pick out the paper — I don’t know about you or anyone else, but this portion of my crafting can take hours… I find paper I didn’t know I had, re-organize, stack and move and then eventually somehow the paper just appears for the new cards. However, today was different, today I went to my Be Loved collection by Fancy Pants Designs and used everything from the collection, including the tape sticker that I cut Happy Birthday from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Once everything was colored — yes, I colored after choosing the paper so I could coordinate my image nicely with the paper colors as well—  I cut my base to 6″ x 12″ and scored at 6″. The front and back accent layers were cut at 5 3/4″ x 5 3/4″. Then I cut down the inside layer at 11 3/4″ x 5 3/4″ and scored at the middle again. The score line is the exact guide for the die set and once the cuts were made (yepp, perfect cuts!), I could assemble the entire card.

Please remember that I am always happy to personalize my artwork with a name, a quote or a special message, endless options really. Also, colors are always customizable options, after all Copic Markers come in 358 different colors!

Just for You

EDHMC_SugarNellie_Little_Gossip_Dream_Wishes_3_1_14

ECD_DT_Badge

What an incredible week! I’m so happy to share that I’ve been invited to join the wonderful Elizabeth Craft Designs’ first ever Design Team!

What can I say? I’m still sitting on my pink clouds smiling rainbows! Simply honored, excited and ready to try all the fun products Elizabeth Craft Designs offers.

As you have seen my earlier cards, I’ve been in love with Karen Burniston’s new Pop It Ups die sets, which are part of Elizabeth Craft Designs’ product line. Today I would like to show you my “Just for You” cards using the Accordion Circle Card die set — love that they’re made in the USA, please support our local manufacturers!

Earlier this week, my sweet friend Lisa introduced me to Sugar Nellie’s fairies and today’s cards are using two lovely fairies: Dreams & Wishes and Little Bit of Gossip. Thank you, Lisa!

Something important to start with: I chose The Paper Studio’s Blanc Boutique card stocks in pearl finish for the sentiment and the card base, which is very important as this paper folds and bends nicely without breaking apart — not all card stocks are created equal! I also used DCWV’s The Glitzy Brights papers for cutting out the scalloped circles and the floral card base overlay — was also important for the small details to come out nicely.

As my usual routine, I imported the fairy images into Silhouette Studio, outlined and let my Silhouette cutter complete the intricate details. Once all cuts were complete, I used Copic markers to color these sweet little fairies but I didn’t stop there today, also applied glue on top of their wings and sprinkled mica flakes over. I also took 3 layers of my sentiment and glued them on top of each other to create a more in depth look, plus outlined the top layer with Ranger Glossy Accents to give a nice glow and a more 3D look.

The one major change in my coloring this week is that I’m trying new ideas and testing new color combinations. Thanks to Alyce’s wonderful new coloring classes at Kit and Clowder Coloring Community, my new favorite skin color combination is: E000, E00, E04, E11, and E21 — please check out her incredible site and sign up for a class or two or really for all of them!

And please remember that I am always happy to create a custom artwork for you with a name, a quote or a special message, endless possibilities really. Also, colors are always customizable options, after all Copic Markers come in 358 different colors!

Please visit my Etsy Store and  Facebook Page for more ideas and colored images.

Happy Birthday Sweet Bell Bell

EDHMC_MiC_Accordion_2_18_14_ALL

So many wonderful crafty groups, so many wonderful friends, so many wonderful creative ideas! Some groups work around sketches, others use lots of cutting techniques and then there is a group of extremely talented people who color. I mean color up a storm! Do you know who I’m talking about? Yes, I’m referring to Make it Crafty and the ever talented Facebook Group with an awesome Facebook Fan Page — please visit them all, you will be so happy you did!

As most creative sites, some weekly challenges involve sketches and, I must admit, they’re not something I ever consider… just not my favorite to follow… but, thanks to some friends’ encouragements at Make it Crafty, I decided to give Sketch#6 a try and that’s how my birthday card to my sweet little Bell Bell was born; used the following images: Girlfriends skipping, Rosey Walk, Rainbow Meadow and Whimsical Flowers.

I took each of the background images and placed them in InDesign and then placed one of the girlfriends over each background image keeping the overall measurement of each image at 3″ x 3″. Once printed, I made my die cuts with the gorgeous accordion die set, can use Karen Burniston’s die set by Sizzix or there’s a new wafer-thin version of the album available by Elizabeth Craft Designs and Karen Burniston. And if you really love accordion cards, there are many other possibilities as well. Also, I used Fancy Pants Parkbench paper along with Fancy Pants Be. Loved paper — love that they’re all made in the USA, please support our local manufacturers!

Once everything was colored (few hours of fun!), I used a string to serve as jump rope for the little friends and added Ranger Glossy Accents to highlight the little birds, the ladybug and the rainbow — my Bell’s favorite color!

Please remember that I am always happy to personalize the artwork with a name, a quote or a special message, endless options really. Also, colors are always customizable options, after all Copic Markers come in 358 different colors!

Life is better at the Beach

EDHMC_MNC_Boy_Play_Sandcastle_2_19_14

Something very new today: my very first boy card! And what else could it be than my beloved Milk N Coffee’s image: Boy plays with Sand Castle. Please take a look at our Design Team’s wonderful creation for today’s show case at Milk N Coffee.

A little secret: I LOVE the ocean! I can simply go to the beach and all the worries in life stop and if it’s my choice, beach time is in Carmel-by-the-sea and Pacific Grove. So the sweet little boy was really destined to make a nautical card!

How did I create this card? With the idea of wanting to make a nautical card, I was stuck… didn’t really have any nautical themed paper or embellishment… so I made some. First of all, picked out my favorite Neenah Wausau Pearlescent Cardstock in navy blue and some standard white card stock. Once cut these 12×12 sheets into half, I started slicing each by 1/4″ little strips and then placed these little slices on the opposite color to create a white and blue stripes effect. Once the front of the card was half way lined, I cut a large circle out from the middle and outlined the cut line with some hemp twine bead cord from Bead Landing.

On a separate Neenah solar white stock paper, I printed and colored the image with Copic markers and placed under the circle cut. Now the embellishments: created each element in Silhouette Studio and let my Silhouette Portrait make the intricate cuts — photo below — and then assembled everything. I hope you like my card as much as I loved creating it. And my favorite part: tied a sailor knot!

Please remember that I am always happy to personalize the artwork with a name, a quote or a special message, endless options really. Also, colors are always customizable options, after all Copic Markers come in 358 different colors!

Please visit my Etsy Store and  Facebook Page for more ideas and colored images.

Dreaming with Your Feet

EDHMC_ADU_3_Little_Party_Grl_2_16_14I just love looking at new images and always excited to see new releases. While admiring All Dressed Up’s new releases, I noticed Three Little Party Girls and instantly thought of my dancer friends so here’s a card for you, girls!

And the quote I had in mind was just so fitting too: “Dancing is like dreaming with your feet!” ~Constanze

How did I create this card? As my usual routine, I turned to Silhouette Studio to outline and have my Silhouette cutter complete the intricate cuts.

Once prints and cuts were complete, I colored the little girls with Copic markers and made my die cuts with the gorgeous accordion dies set by Karen Burniston with the matching frame and label set. Also, I used Recollections Valentine paper pack with some little flowers, leaves and pearls.

Please remember that I am always happy to personalize the artwork with a name, a quote or a special message, endless options really. Also, colors are always customizable options, after all Copic Markers come in 358 different colors!

Please visit my Etsy Store and  Facebook Page for more ideas and colored images.

I am also posting more detailed photos below, please check them out too.

hugs, Rita

* artwork is available to purchase at Son of a Bean Coffee House and will be used as the base for our February 8th event: Make a Valentine’s Day Card!
